조현택은 도시와 비도시, 과거와 현재, 고도성장과 상대적 빈곤이 교차하는경계의 풍경 속에서 발견한 기이한 파편들을 사진으로 보여준다. 그는 사라져가는 전통의 흔적, 개발의 주변부로 밀려난 구조물, 믿음과 욕망이 뒤엉킨 풍경을 통해 한국 사회에 내재한 불안정한 욕망과 집단적 감각, 그리고 익숙하지만 쉽게 설명되지 않는 현실의 균열을 드러낸다. 그는 2012년과 2021년 두 차례에 걸쳐 광주비엔날레에 참여했으며, 2024년 휴스턴 포토페스트 주제전, 2025년 블루스카이 갤러리 개인전, 경기도미술관과 국제갤러리의 기획전 등에 참여했다. 

작품은 국립현대미술관 미술은행, 경기도미술관, 경남도립미술관, 광주시립미술관, 전남도립미술관, 무안군립오승우미술관 등에 소장되어 있다. 

Cho Hyuntaek presents photographic fragments discovered within landscapes that exist at the intersections of urban and non-urban spaces, past and present, rapid economic growth and relative poverty. Through traces of disappearing traditions, structures pushed to the margins by development, and landscapes where faith and desire intertwine, he reveals the unstable desires, collective sensibilities, and the subtle fractures of reality that are both familiar and difficult to fully explain within contemporary Korean society.

He participated in the 2012 and 2021 editions of the Gwangju Biennale, and has exhibited in the 2024 Houston FotoFest central exhibition, a 2025 solo exhibition at Blue Sky Gallery, as well as curated exhibitions at the Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art and Kukje Gallery. 

His works are included in the collections of the Art Bank, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, Gyeongnam Art Museum, Gwangju Museum of Art, Jeonnam Museum of Art, and Muan County Oh Seung-woo Museum of Art.
